Antique Alter Ego was founded because we kept finding really cool things at auctions and garage sales. We soon discovered that other people enjoy fun things too, so with our collection bulging, we decided to start selling some of our stuff. That’s when we embarked on what would be a fascinating and life-long journey into the world of antiques and collectibles.
Today, we have a wealth of knowledge about vintage items, and still have as much fun as we did when we started!
We describe what we do as “Finding the treasures that brighten your day” because to us, a treasure is something that makes you smile, every time you see it. Everyone needs a few of those!
We believe antiques and vintage items can be appreciated for their artistry and craftsmanship, while providing an Eco-friendly, money saving means of decorating your home.

Hello David,
So glad it’s what you were looking for! We’ll keep our eyes open for more like that and let you know.
Thanks again,
Marie.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I just visited your Pinterest page and was enjoying those gorgeous vintage home plans from a book I used to peruse for hours at a time as a kid back in the ’70s. That book was lost (or thrown out) during my family’s move to our new home in the early ’80s, and I’ve been looking for a copy ever since! Now that I’m in the planning stages of building my own home, I’d love to build a classic split-level, but good luck finding any plans anymore (or even an architect who’s old enough to even know what you’re talking about in the first place!). It’s quite interesting, though, to see how our priorities, needs, and expectations have changed over the past generation. The home plans for “unlimited budgets” were rarely over 3,000 square feet or so, the master bedrooms were no bigger than kids’ bedrooms today, and the only real feature of the master bath was that it was en suite to the master bedroom. And no plans allowed for garages bigger than two cars! Of course, this was during the era of 18% mortgage interest rates …
I’m so glad you found this! I agree that it’s interesting how priorities change.
I hope you find a plan you’ll really enjoy living in!
Would love to have all the vintage house plan books I can get. Are the ones you posted from for sale? I would love to have them. I have been collecting vintage house plan books for years. I am absolutely fascinated by them. Thanks for any help you can give in helping me find some. I really enjoy your Facebook page. Thanks for sharing all your unique vintage items.
Hello,
Glad you enjoy our page!
House plan books are so much fun! I enjoy them, too.
We don’t have any for sale right now, but I’m sure there are some on eBay or Etsy.
Good luck with your hunt!
Marie.
